Choosing a state
Which state is best for a non-resident?
Wyoming is the most popular for low fees and privacy, Delaware for startups raising investment, and Arizona and New Mexico for low maintenance. If you will have staff, an office or stock in a particular state, forming there often makes more sense. We recommend a state for free.
Do I need to live in the state I choose?
No. You can form a company in any state without living there or visiting the USA. A registered agent in that state receives official mail for you; we provide one for the first year.
LLC or corporation?
Most non-residents choose an LLC for its simplicity and tax treatment. A C-Corporation is better if you plan to raise investment or issue shares to a team. Read our comparison.
