How to Open a Company in the USA Without Visiting (2026)

Yes, you can form a US LLC or Corporation, get an EIN and open a bank account without travelling. What the remote process looks like, what you need, how long it takes and what it costs.

Ten years ago, many US banks expected you to walk into a branch, and forming a company from abroad meant couriers, notaries and long delays. Today, founders from more than a hundred countries form and run US companies without ever travelling. The process is fully online, takes weeks rather than months, and costs a few hundred dollars.

This guide explains what can be done remotely, what you need to provide, and what the process looks like with UCB.

What you can do remotely

  • Form an LLC or corporation in any of the 50 states and DC.
  • Get an EIN from the IRS without an SSN. See EIN for non-residents.
  • Open a US business bank account with our bank packages. See the bank account guide.
  • Apply for an ITIN for the owner, without posting your passport in most cases. See what is an ITIN.
  • Get a US business address and registered agent.
  • Accept payments through Stripe, PayPal and marketplaces.
  • File annual taxes and state reports.

What we need from you

  • A clear colour passport copy.
  • Your company name preferences.
  • A short business description.
  • For bank packages: additional KYC, such as proof of address (and PAN for Indian applicants).

No notarised documents, no couriers, no SSN. See documents needed to form a US company remotely.

The process with UCB

  1. Choose your state and package. We help you decide; see which state should a non-resident choose and LLC or Inc.
  2. Upload documents through our secure order form.
  3. We review your documents and confirm your total, usually within one business day.
  4. We file your company with the state.
  5. We obtain your EIN from the IRS.
  6. We open your US business bank account (bank packages).
  7. You receive everything digitally: formation documents, EIN letter, operating agreement and bank access.
  8. We remind you of annual state and federal filings.

Running the company from abroad

Once formed, you can run the company entirely from where you live: sign contracts electronically, invoice clients, manage the bank account online, and handle compliance with us. See how to run a US business without a physical presence.

What remote ownership doesn't change

  • Annual filings. A foreign-owned LLC still files federal returns every year, including Form 5472, even with no income.
  • Home-country rules. Your country may tax the company's profits and have rules on foreign investments. Speak to a local adviser.
  • Immigration. Owning a US company does not give you the right to work in the USA. See US business visas.
